Derek Weisberg's demanding studio practice in ceramics and sculpture has been complemented throughout his career by his engagement with graphic art. An international list of prestigious residencies, teaching appointments and gallery exhibitions is a testament to his success. Weisberg views his practice as being in relation to the Arte Povera movement, very often creating work with everyday materials.
His printmaking is made with a straightforward, low-fi process which allows him to print each image by hand at a range of scales, creating suites of one of a kind works of art. In addition to his studio practice, Weisberg has also worked with highly esteemed artists such as Stephen De Staebler, Ursula von Rydingsvard, Manuel Neri, and Peter Lane, among others.
“Weisberg's diverse skills in collage and printmaking are evident in this latest work, embodying the energy of his expressionistic approach to his signature ceramics."
