The philosophy of the Elyse Graham Studio is built around embracing the unknown and inviting chance into the process. While experimenting with resin and plaster and exploring their properties, we have pushed the materials beyond its intended uses to create objects that are a combination of instinct and chance, chaos and control.
Our three Collections of plaster vessels are all produced by hand using balloons as molds, ensuring that each piece is unique. We have developed three distinct techniques for dying the vessels inspired by the natural world.
Constantly seeking new ways of working with resin, we have embarked on a unique fabrication technique. We have developed a way to cast our intricately patterned MetaMATERIAL in sheets, bricks, blocks and planks, enabling us to construct large-scale objects that were previously beyond our reach within the confines of a mold.
“The studio’s intense focus on materiality has yielded furnishings in her signature resin compositions as well as an array of delicately adorned plaster vessels, 'drip' mirrors and endless accessories.”
