GRADUAL, founded in 2018, is reimagining clockmaking for the 21st century. Its first collection of perception-altering timepieces, called Lightweights, won the NYCxDesign best of wellness award in 2018 and a Fast Company Innovation award in 2019.
Creative Director Russell Greenberg imagines time as a material that can be sculpted into seductive and performative clocks that transform the rhythm of a room. Greenberg, along with Gradual co-founders Christopher Beardsley and Min-chul Hong, envision “creative time-telling” as a way to restore balance to our increasingly complex and technology-entangled lives.
GRADUAL is a creation of RUX Studios, an NYC-based multi-disciplinary team dedicated to merging art with activism where Greenberg acts as Founder and Creative Director, Beardsley as Managing Partner, and Hong as Product Design Director.
“Gradual, from the designers of Stickbulb, offers a poetic physical manifestation of time in an endlessly customizable system."
