His works contain an implicit duality - one that transcends time and space. John Shea (American, b. 1989) in an American ceramic artist currently based in Baltimore, Maryland. Shea’s abstract sculptures that take a dual lens view as to what constitutes an object, in his own words, “looking at an object as composed of individual elements as well as a set of relationships that inform those objects.” Shea creates abstract compositions built up from individual elements, some geometric in shape, others organic in form. Richly pigmented in vibrant tones, the skillfully applied palette yields a surreal, luminescent quality to the finished work.
