OUR TAKE

“Terri and Adam have created their own, wonderful world of sculptures and objects that draw us in with their bold forms and colors.”

NEED TO KNOW

  • Terri and Adam met at a karaoke bar in 2011, and their 3-year-old daughter comes to work with them every day
  • You may have seen their artist windows for Maison Hermès in enviable locations like Ginza in Tokyo, Geneva and Shanghai
  • Chiaozza recently collaborated with ceramic planter company Monstruosus (also on Source!) to create playful plant-inspired sculptures for a photoshoot in the Mexican desert

CHIAOZZA (rhymes with “yowza”) is the collaborative studio of Adam Frezza & Terri Chiao. Our work explores play and craft across a range of media, including painted sculpture, works on paper, installation, public art, and design. We seek to bring to light the wondrous, the magical, and the humorous in the everyday, from small to vast. Play is a foundational concept in our studio: as a platform for shifting perspective, a tool for collaboration, and an expression of the brightness of the human spirit.

In the studio, we work with wood, paper pulp, and paint to construct objects and environments that are both familiar and strange, playing with form, color, material, and space to evoke elemental and surreal landscapes of optimism and wonder.
